The first unit of the year (Net and wall games)

Day #1 Warm-up—Spikeball
Knee Tag! 1 v 1 game-
The object is to tag your opponent’s kneecap with one of your hands for a point while staying in an approximate 5-foot radius of one another.
Start in an athletic stance (An athletic stance is when your knees are slightly bent, your heels never touch the ground, and you are focused on your opponent. This stance helps us to be successful in most sports when we need to anticipate.facing your opponent)
Games are played to 3 points…then you immediately find a new opponent.
(2 – 4 Minutes)
Soccer rhombus athletic stance- Group of 6 playing soccer with hands inside the rhombus.
Step 1 Students will serve the spike ball/rubber ball onto the centre of the hoop or the net with a slapping motion and the partner will catch it and return (slap -catch)
Step 2 Slap and catch with 3sec hold
Step 3 The students will serve the spike ball onto the center of the net with a slapping motion and their partner will return it in an attempt to keep a rally between them. ( allow students to throw the ball at the center of the hoop or net until they can perform the “slap” serve.
Allow students to continue catching until they become proficient at striking out of the air.
Step 4 or step 1 Bubble pass Bubble pass to oneself first.
The student will serve the spike ball onto the center of the net with a slapping motion and their partner will bubble pass the spike ball in a controlled upward direction and catch
Step 5-Slap, bubble pass, catch Allow students to throw the ball at the net until they can perform the slap serve
All students to continue catching until they become proficient at striking out of the air.
Step 6- slap,bubble pass,slap rally.
